Job's Captivity Turned

"And the Lord turned the captivity of Job" (Job_42:10).

It was a glad day with Job when God heard his prayer and answered him, and brought him out of darkness and into light.

The story carries with it the type of the resurrection and exaltation of Jesus Christ.

We did not like to stop our quotations, of a moment ago, from Psalms 22 and Psalms 69. Why? Because we left the Lord Jesus overwhelmed in His grief.

These Psalms of the Cross do not stop there; they describe the Lord Jesus Christ coming forth into His glory. Even as Christ was dying upon the Cross, He knew that the Lord would soon bring deliverance. He said, "Thou hast heard Me from the horns of the unicorns." Then, with exultant note, He exclaimed: "I will declare Thy name unto My brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee."

In the 69th Psalm, the Lord cried and said, "Thou hast known My reproach, and My shame, and My dishonour: * * Reproach hath broken My heart; and I am full of heaviness: * * They gave Me also gall for My meat; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink."

Afterward, the Lord spoke forth His paeans of victory: "Let Thy salvation, O God, set Me up on high. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving."

The Lord turned the captivity of Job, and He turned the sorrows of the Lord Jesus Christ.
