Christ in the Pulpit

Luk_4:16-30

Christ the Preacher, with Bible in Hand (Luk_4:17).

Christ the Preacher, with Faith in the Scriptures (Luk_4:21).

Christ the Preacher, with Gracious Words of Truth (Luk_4:22, f. c).

Christ the Preacher, with His Hearers Doubting (Luk_4:22, l. c).

Christ the Preacher, with His Power Circumscribed (Luk_4:23).

Christ the Preacher, with His Hearers Angered (Luk_4:28).

Christ the Preacher, and His Sad Withdrawal (Luk_4:30).

It is most interesting to observe Jesus Christ in the different phases of His earth life.

We love to see Him as the child, subject to His parents. We love to think of Him as the so-called carpenter's son, or, as the carpenter. We love to see Him as He goes forth over the land of Judea, healing the sick, curing the leper, raising the dead.

We love to follow Christ as a man among men, moving among them. His every throbbing heartbeat, His every movement of hand and His every step of foot seems to be in behalf of some one who needed Him.

Today, we must circumscribe our vision to this wonderful Christ, the Son of God, and follow Him as He enters the city of His youth, where He has been brought up, and stands as a preacher in the Nazareth synagogue.
