The Good Things to Come

Christ, the Heir of All Things (Heb_1:2).

Christ and the Great Salvation (Heb_2:3).

Christians and Their Confident Calling (Heb_3:1).

Christ, the King-Priest (Heb_5:6).

Christ and the Approaching Day (Heb_10:25).

The Faith That Pleases God (Heb_10:38).

Final Admonitions (Heb_12:1-2).

The Book of Hebrews has been discussed as the Book of the Risen Christ. In it the Lord Jesus Christ is proclaimed superior to angels; superior to lawgivers; superior to prophets. He is portrayed as the Son of God Who has ascended through the heavens and has taken His seat at the right hand of God. He is described as our High Priest, a Priest after the order of Melchisedec.

We would not take away from this view of Hebrews, but we would emphasize a new and a distinct vision, which we believe is the great contention of the Book.

Few of us have thought of the Book of Hebrews as being more than casually related to the Second Coming of Christ and to His personal reign. We propose to-day to study the Book wholly from that viewpoint, taking it chapter by chapter, and seeking to discover the deeper meanings of the admonition concerning the things to come.
