1529. The Angels and the Two Comings
The Angels and the Two Comings
"When the Son of Man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him" (Mat_25:31).
1. The First Coming announced by angels. We read of the shepherds watching their flocks by night. "And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy" (Luk_2:9-10).
As the angel was speaking, "suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Luk_2:13-14).
This is a beautiful story. He who was announced by John, was first announced by angels.
2. The Second Coming accompanied by angels. "When the Son of Man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him" (Mat_25:31).
When God shall bring again His First-born into the inhabited earth, He saith, "And let all the angels of God worship Him" (Heb_1:6),
In the First Coming, a multitude of the Heavenly host burst forth in glad acclaim; in the Second Coming, all the angels of God, an innumerable company, ten thousand times ten thousand and thousand of thousands, fall down and worship Him. (Study Revelation 4 and Revelation 5.)
