Peace and the Two Comings

"And His name shall be called * * The Prince of Peace" (Isa_9:6).

1. In the First Coming, personal peace was offered to all who came unto Him. The message of the angel was: "Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord" (Luk_2:11).

And the angels responded: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, to men of good will."

This peace is a personal peace. Christ did not come in His First Coming to bring universal peace. He said, "I came not to bring peace upon the earth, but a sword."

However, personal peace may now be obtained by all who come to Christ. "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Mat_11:28).

The final words of Christ were, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid" (Joh_14:21).

If there is an unsaved one who reads these words, let him receive the Lord Jesus now.

2. In the Second Coming, universal peace will be given to mankind. "Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end" (Isa_9:7).

When Christ reigns, righteousness and truth will kiss one another, and peace and equity will be established.

Nations will no longer lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war any more.
