The Dead and the Living Will Be Caught Up (1Th_4:16-17).

All Will Be Changed (Php_3:20-21).

Millions Now Living Who Must Surely Die

They Must Die Physically (Heb_9:27).

How They May Die (Luk_16:22).

The Second Death (Rev_20:14).

On one occasion, a minister, holding a large pastorate, and a prominent place in his denomination, was conducting a funeral. He was a man who, supposedly, knew how to rightly divide the Word of Truth. On the occasion of the funeral he read our Scripture Lesson–1Th_4:13-18 in full. He concluded with the words: "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air," etc. He closed the Book, laid it upon his desk, and said; "There is one thing sure, we must all die." What a contradiction!

We visited an old lady in Athens, Ga. She was very, very sick. We said, "Grandma, we are sorry to find you so sick." She looked up smilingly and replied, "But I am not expecting to die." We said. "What are you expecting, grandma?" She answered, "Oh, I may die, but I am expecting to be caught up at any moment to meet the Lord in the air."

The song has it rightly stated:

"O joy! O delight! should we go without dying,

No sickness, no sadness, no dread, and no crying;

Caught up thru the clouds with our Lord into glory,

When Jesus shall claim His own."

It is the purpose of this lesson to show that there are millions now living who may never die, and afterward to show that there are millions now living who must surely die.
