1593. One in Raising Up Christ
One in Raising Up Christ
"Whom God hath raised up" (Act_2:24).
1. The Father Raised Up Christ
"God the Father, who raised Him (Christ) from the dead" (Gal_1:1).
We will all readily admit that man cannot raise the dead. The Father raised up Christ, because God raiseth the dead, and the Father was God.
In this resurrection we see not only the power which God the Father manifested, but also the approval which He placed upon His Son.
2. The Son Raised Up Himself
"Destroy this temple, and * * I will raise it up" (Joh_2:19).
The disciples afterward knew that Christ was speaking of His own body. Indeed, Christ said concerning His life, "I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again."
No man has ever spoken thus. Where is he who could, of his own power come forth from the grave? Thus Jesus Christ was very God. Granting that the Father raised Him up from the dead, yet He equally raised Himself from the dead.
3. The Spirit Raised Up Christ
"The Spirit * * that raised up Jesus from the dead" (Rom_8:11).
Our blessed Lord was raised up by the Father, He was raised up by Himself, and He was raised up by the Holy Spirit.
This is possible only because God is three persons, constituting one God. God the Holy Ghost was one with God the Son, and one with God the Father.
