1598. One in Granting Peace
One in Granting Peace
"The peace of God * * keep your hearts and minds" (Php_4:7).
1. The Father Grants Peace
"Peace, from God our Father" (Col_1:2).
The expression of our key verse is of frequent occurrence in the Word of God; our God is a God of peace.
The Father gives us peace from our sense of guilt. Being justified we have peace with God. The world may try to give peace to the troubled heart, but their peace is a false peace. The world says "Peace" when there is no peace.
The peace of God passeth all understanding; the peace of God is calm as a river; the peace of God abideth forever.
2. The Son Grants Peace
"My peace I give unto you" (Joh_14:27).
Christ gives us His peace. He gives peace, but not as the world gives; He gives peace because He is the God of peace.
3. The Spirit Grants Peace
"The fruit of the Spirit is * * peace" (Gal_5:22).
Why is it that, step by step, we are finding that what the Father does, the Son does; and what the Father and the Son do, the Spirit does? It is because the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are one God.
The Holy Spirit preaches peace to those who are afar off. He too is the God of peace.
