1601. One in Strengthening Saints
One in Strengthening Saints
"God is my strength and power" (2Sa_23:33).
1. The Father Strengthens Saints
"The God of all grace, * * strengthen * * you" (1Pe_5:10).
"Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power" (Col_1:11).
God strengthens saints with all power, even according to His own glorious power.
The believer may walk worthy of the Lord, unto all pleasing; he may be fruitful in every good work; and he may increase in the full knowledge of God, all because God is able to strengthen him. There is no task which God places before saints, either in service or in victorious Christian living, which He does not stand ready to make possible of accomplishment through His glorious power.
2. The Son Strengthens Saints
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Php_4:13).
The accomplishments of saints are never a cause for boasting, for apart from Him we can do nothing. Whatever we are, and whatever we do, is through the strength which Christ gives us. He has all power, and He places this "all power" in reach of every believer's need.
3. The Spirit Strengthens Saints
"Strengthened with might by his Spirit" (Eph_3:16).
The disciples were to receive power when the Holy Ghost had come upon them. Stephen was a man of power because he was a man whom the Spirit had touched. Paul preached in power because he preached in the demonstration of the Spirit.
What is the sum of all this?
The Father strengthens saints, the Son strengthens saints, the Spirit strengthens saints.
Yet the one who strengthens man, must be above man. Our key text says, "God is my strength." Therefore God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit bring each, in turn the believers strength, are each God–yet not three Gods, but three persons constituting one God.
