1607. Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Testimony of John
Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Testimony of John
"He whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God; for God giveth not the Spirit by measure" (Joh_3:34).
Three persons are set forth in John's testimony.
The Father is spoken of as sending the Son; the Son is spoken of as being sent from God, and as speaking the words of God; the Spirit is spoken of as not having been given by measure.
The One Who sends is not the One Who is sent; the One to Whom the Spirit is given, is not the Spirit Who is given. Stated differently, the Father is neither the Son nor the Spirit; the Son is neither the Father nor the Spirit; the Spirit is neither the Father nor the Son.
There is but one God, but the one God is manifested in three persons.
