1610. Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Pouring Forth of the Spirit
Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Pouring Forth of the Spirit
"Being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear" (Act_2:33).
In this scene we have been carried beyond the "upper room," beyond the resurrection and the ascension, and we are standing in the presence of the exalted Christ, observing, while the Spirit is poured forth.
The distinction in the personalities of the Godhead is readily seen. The Son is not the Father, for He is at the Father's right hand. The Father and the Son are not the Spirit, for the Spirit is the One promised by the Father to the Son and He is the One poured forth upon the praying disciples.
The Lord Jesus Christ was not the poured-forth Spirit for Stephen, who was filled with the Spirit, saw the Lord Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
Once more, therefore, we have the Triune God, positively established in three personalities.
