The Door–christ Our Approach–The Place of Entrance
"I am the Door; by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture" (Joh_10:9).
1. The Curtains. They were of blue, of purple, of scarlet, and of fine linen. These colors all represent the Lord Jesus Christ.
The blue stands for His Heavenly nature; He came forth from the Father; He was God manifest in flesh. We beheld in Him the glory of the Father full of grace and Truth.
The purple stands for royalty; it anticipates the Davidic throne–"Jesus Christ the son of David;" "Jesus Christ heir of all things;" "Jesus Christ the King of kings and Lord of lords." When He comes He will have many diadems upon His brow.
The scarlet stands for the Blood; it anticipates the Cross of Christ; it told how Christ was to die, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God; it reveals Him as the Lamb led to the slaughter, and as the sheep dumb before its shearers.
Fine linen stands for the righteous character of Christ. He was the One who knew no sin; who did no sin; in whom there was no sin; the immaculate, impeccable, sinless Christ. He was righteous in His every act; no one could convince Him of sin. He was righteous toward God; He did always the things that pleased Him.
2. The One Gate. There was only one way of entrance and that was by the door. Jesus Christ said, "I am the Door." He said, "No man cometh unto the Father but by Me."
There are not many doors through which we can approach to God. There is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Act_4:12).
3. Climbing up another way. There are those who would seek to get to God without following the God-prescribed way. Of them the Lord said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber" (Joh_10:1).
The world today has sought out many inventions, and among them are diverse ways through which they hope to get to God. Everyone of them will be thrown back as a thief or a robber. There is only one way, one truth, one life–one approach to the Holy of Holies.
