27 PRAY TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
When they had come down, [he] prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
—Acts 8:15
How welcome is the Holy Spirit in your life? Oh, you may have asked Him to fill, baptize, anoint, counsel and comfort you. But have you really meant it? Did you sincerely welcome the Spirit into your life?
To receive the Holy Spirit demands of us a willingness to receive all He has for us—transformation, change, power, gifts, and fruit.
Receiving the Holy Spirit means that your life will constantly change. That’s uncomfortable. That’s unplanned and unpredictable. Are you willing to receive how the Spirit will change and transform you?
Receiving the Holy Spirit means that you have relinquished power over your life Him. Now, every thought, feeling and decision is subject to His authority. Are you willing to receive the Spirit’s power?
Receiving the Holy Spirit means that you are willing to be used by Him. And it means you are willing to bear fruit in your life for him.
Jesus,
I pray to receive Your Spirit. Amen.
