28 ABSOLUTE TRUTH IS TRUE FOR ALL TIMES,
FOR ALL PLACES AND FOR ALL PEOPLE—PARENTS AND CHILDREN INCLUDED.
“If it’s true for you, it’s true for me,” instructed the parent.
We cannot teach what we do not live. We cannot say, “Do as I say, not as I do.”
God wants us to be consistent as well as truthful. Why? Because truth is consistent. The world teaches children relativism. But Scripture teaches absolute truth.
Absolute truth is universal—it’s true for all people and in all places.
Absolute truth is constant—it’s true for all times.
To model truth, a parent has to be consistent about truth every day. The boundaries haven’t changed just because it’s a new day. The reality of right and wrong is just as true for parents and for children. Parents cannot lie. Nor can children.
