41 FACE THE PROBLEM NOW; TIME NUMBS BUT CAN NEVER HEAL

“Let’s talk about this problem right now and stop putting it off,” pleaded the husband. Let’s face it. Sometimes we procrastinate until a small problem becomes a major wall in marriage.

Sometimes, it’s wise to set aside the discussion of a heated issue until you can talk about it calmly. When that’s the case, make an appointment with your mate. “I can’t talk at this moment. Can we discuss it at______.” In other words, give yourself and your mate some time to cool down.

However, never put off a problem for an extended period of time. Deal with it now. Face the problem now. The passage of time never makes a problem disappear.

It may take weeks, months or even years to solve a problem. Solutions aren’t instant in marriage. But starting now can greatly defuse future conflict and trials in your marriage.

Now is the time to face the problem. Now is the time to pray. Now is the time to listen to one another. Now is the time to get help. Now is the time to develop an action plan.

Try this: Decide to talk about a problem when both of you are rested, not hungry and when there are no distractions. Set an appointment to talk.

“I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares

I will seek the one I love.”
