SEED AND YOUR SEED’S SEED.

“Look at the shame you caused me,” moaned the parent to a rebellious child.

It’s not about you. Parenting focuses on what God wants us to say and do with our children. Parenting is about training up children in the ways of the Lord.

Parenting is not about our wants … our convenience … our happiness … or pleasing ourselves.

Children are a gift from God. We are stewards, not owners. They are not our possessions.

It’s essential that we recognize that successful parenting is not about how good we look. Too many parents believe their good names are at stake in the behavior of their children. They want their children to succeed so that they, as parents, will look good to their peers.

But, it’s not about our reputations. It’s about His. God’s name is at sake in our seed and our seed’s seed. As we read in Malachi 2:14, the Lord is looking for godly seed. We invest blessing in our children so that they will have an inheritance that overflows into the lives of their children and their children’s children.

There is no success without a successor. There is no inheritance without an heir. There is no legacy without one who will take the legacy forward into the future.

What seed are you sowing into your seed so that they can bear fruit and sow seed into their seed?

What spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and material inheritance are you leaving for your children?

When a good man dies, he leaves an inheritance to his grandchildren (Prov. 13:22 TLB).
