5 BELIEVE THE BEST ABOUT YOUR MATE

5 BELIEVE THE BEST ABOUT YOUR MATE

“What did you really mean when you did that?” asked the angry, suspicious wife. This particular wife always believed her husband was “up to no good.”

First let’s admit that love is a gift and trust must be earned. This husband had violated his wife’s trust on many occasions. However, he deeply loved his wife. The promises he broke were more irritating than devastating. But she chose to always believe the worst about him.

Second let’s remember that one reason both of you got married was out of love for one another. So what your spouse does or says has its roots in love, not on bad intentions.

Even when your spouse fails to keep a promise or fulfill an expectation, that spouse isn’t a failure. The best way to believe the best about your mate is to remember his first love instead of his last mistake.

Believing the best about your spouse builds on hope instead of despair and trust instead of doubt.

When we love one another with God’s love, then we expect the best and are surprised if the worst ever happens. Set aside the past. Start expecting the best now!

Try this: Begin praying thanksgiving to God for all the fruit of the Spirit in your mate’s heart: peace, love, joy, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, humbleness and self-control.

[Love] always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end.
