54 SOW BLESSING INTO OTHER MARRIAGES
We reap what we sow. As we sow blessings into the marriages of others, our marriages grow deeper and more intimate.
We have discovered this in our own marriage. Every time we lead a marriage seminar with a group of couples and singles looking toward marriage, our marriage grows and we learn more about God and ourselves.
Whenever we help another couple, we mature in our own marital relationship. Whenever we pray for other marriages, our own marriage reaps a harvest of the Spirit’s fruit.
Always focusing on our own marriage makes us selfish and self-centered. Giving to others our time, resources and gifts allows us to release what we have as a blessing into the lives of others.
When fellowshipping with another couple, ask them, “How is your marriage and family? What wonderful things do you see God doing in and through you?” Let them share instead of selfishly dominating the conversation talking only about your marriage. Try this: Ask God to show you couples into whom you can sow blessings of resources, wisdom, spiritual gifts and time so that God can use you to bless others.
And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up. That’s why whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone, and especially to our Christian brothers.
