59 PRAY FOR WISDOM.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

     —James 1:5

Wisdom sees everything from God’s perspective. My perspective can only see what’s visible and what’s locked in time and space. But from God’s perspective I can see myself and others as He sees us. From God’s perspective I can take the long look into what’s best for both now and the future.

Wisdom lines up knowledge and understanding so that I may walk a straight path in God’s ways.

Knowledge is the revelation of His truth through His Word that keeps us from sin and directs us in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Knowledge brings me into an intimacy with Him so that I may hear his voice before I take the next step in my spiritual walk.

Understanding applies correctly what God has revealed to me. With understanding I can do the new thing that God has shown me without fear of failure.

God’s Word declares, “For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Prov. 2:6). Want God’s perspective? Pray for wisdom.

Lord God,

Give me wisdom that I may see what You see. Give me knowledge that I may know You. Give me understanding that I may do Your will. Amen.
