64 GUARD YOUR HEART AND YOUR SENSES

Be careful to guard your heart and your senses, which are doorways through which both good and evil can enter. If you open the door to iniquity, then you are giving permission to the enemy to plunder your marriage relationship.

How then do we guard our hearts and senses? Here are some simple safeguards for both:

Don’t subscribe to premium movie channels or any channels that would show pornography.

Filter out all temptation to look at porno on your computer.

Refuse to watch “R”-rated films.

Reject any music that is sexually suggestive or violent.

Dress modestly.

Don’t put yourself in a compromising situation with a member of the opposite gender who isn’t your mate.

Refuse to look upon, touch or listen to anything that is unclean.

Take every thought captive.

Temptations abound in the world around us. It’s our responsibility to guard our hearts and senses from anything unclean.

Try this: Clean your house. Get rid of anything unclean in your physical and spiritual house.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple
of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God,
and you are not your own?
