66 SERVE AND WORSHIP GOD TOGETHER
As one flesh, it’s so important to share worship and ministry together. So often at church, families are split apart. The wife goes in one direction, the husband in another, and the children disappear with their friends.
The problem with this becomes apparent; churches often segment families instead of unifying them. It’s so important in marriage to find time to worship and serve God together.
Find a ministry that both of you can share together, and find a place of discipleship so that both of you can grow together. A small group or marriage class for couples may be one place for you to grow together.
Serving the Lord in the church should bring you together, not separate you. Some couples sacrifice their marriages on the altar of ministry. Don’t let that happen to you.
Discover a place where you can minister together, such as in leading a group, praying with people together after a service, in a visitation ministry or singing together in a worship team or choir.
Try this: Make a schedule for a month of all the times you worship or are in ministry. Then determine if you are together or separated. If separated, choose to change your ministry and worship focus so that you can be more together as a couple.
For it is written,
“You shall worship the LORD your God,
and Him only you shall serve.”
Luke 4:8
