72 LIVE TO PLEASE GOD AND BLESS (ESHER) YOUR
CHILDREN INSTEAD OF BLESSING (ESHER) GOD AND PLEASING YOUR CHILDREN.

“I just can’t seem to make Tiara happy. She’s not pleased with anything I do.”

Too often, parents seek to please their children instead of pleasing God. It’s time to wake up and realize that living to please other people, even your children, is not what life is about.

Live to please God. “How?” you ask. By obeying His commands, not your child’s.

Children are basically self-centered. As babies, they cry out for attention to be fed, held, cleaned up, and comforted. They don’t know enough to take care of themselves, so they depend on you, the parent.

Tragically, many parents continue to live in the “please me” mode of infant-rearing when their children are much older. Sadly, these parents live their lives never blessing their seed because they’ve used everything to try and please them.

Pleasing God means that we will have a balanced approach to blessing our children. The child will be loved beyond measure and valued as a special gift from God, which alone will bless them.

Pleasing God means that parents will leave a spiritual heritage for their children that cannot be taken away. Blessing your children means calling on the One in whom you place your trust to enrich their lives.

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You are doing this already, and we encourage you to do so more and more (1 Thess 4:1 NLT).
