2 RECHARGE YOUR MATE’S EMOTIONAL BANK WITH AFFIRMATION
EACH MORNING

Doesn’t all that I did for you yesterday count for anything today?” asked the frustrated husband.

It’s a new day. Have fresh love and affirmation for today. It’s not that yesterday’s expressions of love don’t count. They have built a foundation for today’s fresh expressions. But never rest on yesterday’s laurels.

A new bouquet of flowers needs to replace the old, wilting one. My wife mentioned a vase of dried flowers sitting on the kitchen counter. “I really love those flowers, but they’re months old. Will they ever be replaced?”

Yes, the memory of receiving those roses months ago was touching and wonderful. But memory doesn’t meet today’s need.

Be fresh and creative today. Find a new way to say, “I love you.” The emotional bank needs refilling; without recognizing this, today’s journey of love could easily run out of gas!

Today’s neglect may quickly negate pleasant memories of past expressions of love. You and your spouse need fresh, new and exciting ways to express to each other today, “I love you.”

Try this: Write “I love you!” on the bathroom mirror with a marker. Put a Scripture underneath it.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation; old things have passed away.
