10 DRESS TO SHOW YOU CARE FOR YOUR MATE

“How can you leave the house looking like that? I have to be seen with you!” commented the wife. Now the husband could respond childishly and say, “You’re not my mother. Don’t tell me how to dress.”

Or that husband could respond maturely and change what he is wearing. Why? Because we dress for our mates. We look good for them. We want to dress sharply, attractively and modestly for them.

At times, we see couples walking through the mall and one of the pair is dressed so provocatively that everyone is looking at that spouse except the mate. We dress for our mates not for others.

Consider this: your clothes, hairstyle, scent, weight and total appearance honors Christ and your mate. Of course God sees the heart, not the outer appearance. But the outer appearance reflects what’s in the heart.

If you have a heart for your spouse, then you will dress to please both your spouse and Christ.

Try this: Go shopping with your mate. Try on and select clothing that you both enjoy and find attractive.

Remember that how you both dress sends a message about self-image and your marriage to the world around you. Before you go out, check out your appearance in the mirror of your mate’s vision.

Ask, “Does this outfit please you and the Lord?”

… Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.
