13 KEEP PASSION ALIVE
“I am so tired of doing everything the same old way,” moaned the distressed spouse. Insanity is doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results. God uses passion to produce breakthroughs in your marriage.
What is passion? It’s an intense love and desire to grow together as one in Christ. At times love loses its initial fire, not because romance has left the marriage, but because we give too many other things the priority of our attention and focus.
While courting and preparing for marriage, a couple’s primary focus is one another. That singular focus produces passion. But after the honeymoon, distractions begin to grow in the marriage like weeds. Such distractions cool down passion like removing logs from a fire.
Try this: Some practical steps you can take to keep the passion alive are:
Daily spend one-on-one time together.
Get away together regularly.
Identify distractions and minimize them. For example, turn off the phone during times you want to be together. Turn off the TV and spend time talking with one another.
Fill your weeks with unexpected surprises. Give gifts, make calls, have dates and have fun with one another.
For your love is better than wine.
