30 ENJOY SERENDIPITIES
A serendipity is an unplanned experience of joy. You can enjoy the unexpected. Marriage is full of unplanned experiences that can either unsettle you or enliven you.
Recently my wife and I unexpectedly found ourselves with 48 hours, stranded in a strange city, with no plans or expectations.
Wow, we had a great time together! Instead of trying our best to get out of there and return home, we counted each hour as a fresh experience of joy and discovery.
We rested. We enjoyed intimate time together. We explored. We talked and prayed. We planned and encouraged one another. We read to each other. We reveled in the joy of the unexpected.
Your serendipity may arrive as unplanned time, an unexpected visit from someone or a gift that has to be used now. Are you prepared to enjoy your serendipity?
Your serendipity may be a divine appointment or a missed opportunity to commune with God or entertain an angel unawares. It depends on you. Your response will determine your joy or your stress. Decide now that joy, not frustration, will greet your next serendipity.
Try this: Plan for the unexpected. Have a day each month just for the two of you to encounter whatever God has for that day. Plan your unplanned day to be a serendipity from God.
This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
