32 ALWAYS EXPECT GOD TO BE DOING SOMETHING NEW IN YOUR
MARRIAGE
“I wish we could just have two weeks alike,” moaned the frustrated husband.
Truthfully, the only constant in life is change. God is the God of the new. He is continually doing a new thing in your marriage.
New means change. God is changing you from the inside out. He’s making you a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). The same is true of marriage. Two people constantly becoming new will always bring new challenges and changes into a marriage relationship. New also means fresh. Expect something fresh in your marriage—fresh water to cleanse out the dirt of daily life and bring vitality to your spirit.
Expect fresh bread to feed upon from God’s Word. Read the Word together daily to feed on God’s fresh manna for you.
Welcome a fresh wind filling the sails of your marriage, empowering you to go to new places both naturally and spiritually. Marriage grows stale without God’s newness bringing change and freshness on a daily basis.
Try this: Memorize a new Scripture together each week. Worship together with a new song, hymn or chorus. Find someone new to serve this week.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
Is. 43:19
