73 CHILDREN NEED TO LEARN THAT GOD IS THEIR
SOURCE NOT YOU.

Parents are the primary care-givers of their children. Because children are reared this way, they have the tendency to think of the parents as their source for everything. Wrong!

God is the source of all things. Teach your children that God provides for you so that you can provide for them. Teach them that even when it comes from your hand, it first came from God.

Teach your children to be good stewards and to thank God for all the ways He has blessed them, even those blessings that have come through you. Teach them that God uses parents, employers, the church, friends, and others as vessels through which to pour out blessings on them.

Your children are to be blessings as well. Teach the child that God will use him or her to bless others through what He has abundantly blessed them.

By focusing their eyes on God and not you, they see His hand of benevolence and provision in all that you do. This promotes a healthy image of God as the One who provides for them.

When your child learns that God is the One who sustains them, their prayers of thanksgiving will take on new meaning. They will truly see God as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matt 6:31–33).
