2 PRAY TO SOW TEARS FOR A BALM OF HEALING.
Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.” ’ ”
—2 Kings 20:5
Weeping prayer softens your heart to receive God’s healing. When last did you weep for those lost whom you know? When last did you weep for anyone who is lost? When last did you weep for the sick in body, soul or spirit? When last did you weep for yourself?
Pray with tears.
Weeping prayer transforms the petitioner from a beggar into a penitent. Weeping never begs for something God does not will. God wills that all be saved. God wills that the sick be healed and the bound be delivered. God wills for the cleansing and purifying of one’s soul.
Pray with tears for what God wills not what you want.
Let your heart be broken by what breaks God’s heart. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). Are you willing to weep for what God wills instead of what you lack? We mourn our losses and grieve when we lack, but do we mourn for the lost and for what others lack?
Weeping prayer cleanses inner wounds and primes the wellspring of healing.
Tears flow from a heart that breaks over all that breaks God’s heart. Let the river of prayer flow to heal your inner wounds. Let the river of prayer wash away the dirt that clogs the well of living waters within you. Let the river of intercession flow from His throne through you and into the life of some who needs saving, healing or delivering.
God,
When you weep, give me Your tears,
Your tears for the poor and the rich,
Your tears for the sick and the healthy,
Your tears for the lonely and the crowded,
Your tears for the insiders and the outsiders,
Your tears for the grieving and the laughing,
Your tears for the weak and the powerful,
Your tears for the satisfied and unsatisfied,
Your tears for the depressed and the overjoyed,
Your tears for the oppressed and the oppressors,
For You have said that You will all to be saved.
So God let me pray for whomever You love, for whatever moves Your heart this moment, so that I will never neglect someone in prayer for whom Your heart breaks. Amen.
