13 BRING AN OFFERING WITH YOUR PRAYER.
Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You.
—Judges 6:18
Gideon prayed and brought an offering to God. Giving and praying go hand in hand as we walk in the Spirit.
The Hebrews worshipped, prayed and brought their offerings to the Lord. We read how David brought offerings and prayers before God to rebuke a plague from God’s people.
“And David built there an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel” (2 Sam. 24:25).
In the New Testament, they prayed and sold their goods to bring offerings for the needs of God’s people (Acts 2:42–47). Cornelius gave alms to the poor and prayed. This resulted in the salvation of his household (Acts 10).
Pray and give. Give and pray. The synergy of prayer and giving builds a lasting memorial before God.
God,
To you I bring the offerings of my treasure, time and talents. I pray that you will accept my prayers and offerings as a memorial before your face. Amen.
