57 INTERCEDE WITH CHRIST IN THE SECRET PLACE.

57 INTERCEDE WITH CHRIST IN THE SECRET PLACE.

Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

     —Romans 8:34

Where is the secret place of prayer? It’s not a physical place even though you may have your favorite retreat or closet of prayer.

Jesus instructs, “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Matt. 6:6).

That secret place of prayer is in the heavenly places: “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6).

That secret place of prayer is in the shadow of the Almighty: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Ps. 91:1).

In that secret place of prayer, we can hide in the presence of God: “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence” (Ps. 31:20).

No matter how weak we feel or shaken or lives may become as we reel under pressures and stress, in the secret place we stand on the Rock:

In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

     —Psalm 27:5

In that secret place, we pray with Christ as He intercedes for us. We pray His will for us. We listen to His words and heart and pray what He prays.

For no earthly reason we may find ourselves praying for a city, a nation, a person or a situation unknown to you in the natural. How does that happen? God has raised us into the heavenly places. There we hear the prayer of Jesus. By His Spirit, we enter into the secret place of prayer.

The prayer of the secret place releases miracles we may never know of until we step into eternal life.

The prayer of the secret place provides provision for which others are desperate.

The prayer of the secret place releases healing into the sick lives of those we have never met.

The prayer of the secret place moves beyond what we know into the revelation of what He knows. It is often the inexpressible prayer of travail and moaning given to us by the Spirit.

The prayer of the secret place moves us from praying to Christ into praying with Christ. It takes us from doing our work into doing His work: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:12–14).

Father,

Hide me in your secret place.

Jesus,

Let me hear your intercession that I may know how to pray.

Holy Spirit,

Intercede through me to accomplish Your eternal will. Amen.
