A LONG time ago, a movie came out called The Blob. This cosmic Jell-O had come down from space, fell into a little crater, and cracked open. An old man came and had a little stick in his hand and was playing with it, and it ran up on his arm and began to consume him. The more he tried to shake it off, the more it consumed him. Some folk found him and rushed him into a hospital room. The doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong and the professionals tried to fix it. When they left the room for a few moments and came back in, the man had been totally consumed by the Blob. In fact, when the doctor touched it, the Blob consumed the doctor too. The Blob then rolled outside of the hospital and consumed everything and everybody in its path.

By the time the movie comes to an end, the Blob is the size of a mountain. Throughout the movie, people had tried everything they could to get rid of the Blob. They’d shot at it. They’d tried to cut it. In fact, it absorbed some of the folk trying to kill it. But at the end of the movie, they discovered one little thing. The Blob could not handle cold. It could deal with anything else, but it couldn’t handle cold. Someone noticed that when they sprayed something cold on it, the Blob would back up. They put some more cold stuff on it, and it backed up some more. Whenever they stopped putting the cold on it, it would come forward again, but when they sprayed something cold on it, it would back up.

They figured they couldn’t get rid of it completely, but they could render it incapable of doing more damage. So what they ended up doing was freezing it, putting it in a crate, attaching the crate to an airplane, and flying it to Alaska. They could not destroy it, but they could change its environment so that it was rendered inactive. Not only did they remove the Blob, but they also transferred it to a new environment where it was so cold that the Blob could not express itself again.

When Jesus saved you, He moved you from the projects to the penthouse. He put you in a brand-new environment and the Blob of your flesh can’t handle this new environment.309
