SIN, CONFESSION OF

SIN,
CONFESSION OF

I WAS attending one of my sons’ football games and accidentally spilled some Coke on my shirt. It wasn’t intentional, but I still did it and it still produced a stain. If I had spilled it intentionally, it would have been a stain. If I had spilled it by mistake, it would have been a stain. Either way it’s a stain and it needed to be cleansed. Now, what I didn’t do is take off my shirt and dip it in the Coke!

Don’t let the fact that you have Tide at home cause you to dip your life in sin. Don’t say that just because you’ve got a washing machine and a dryer at home that I should just get as dirty as I can.

God recognizes that every now and then Coke is going to spill. He recognizes that every now and then maybe you’ll get sloppy and something might go wrong. He wants us to know that when sin happens, we do have a way to be cleansed. We do have a Tide. We do have a washing machine. We do have confession. But we shouldn’t abuse the privilege of confession. The point is to confess our sins when we need to because life happens—not to engage in as much sin as possible because God has made it possible to confess our sins to Him.845
