OBEDIENCE/DISOBEDIENCE

It is altogether doubtful whether any man can be saved who comes to Christ for His help but with no intention to obey Him.1

——

We must be willing to obey if we would know the true inner meaning of the teachings of Christ and the apostles.2

——

All Christians living in full obedience will experience the cross and find themselves exercised in spirit very frequently.3

——

The Spirit of God cannot give a disobedient child His blessing. The Father cannot fill a disobedient child with the Holy Spirit. God gives His Holy Spirit to them that obey Him—those who are obedient to the Word, obedient to the Spirit, obedient to the Risen Lord.4

——

If you are disobeying Jesus Christ you can’t expect to be enlightened.5

——

Before the Word of God can mean anything inside of me there must be obedience to the Word. Truth will not give itself to a rebel. Truth will not impart life to a man who will not obey the light!6

——

If you are willing to obey the Lord Jesus, He will illuminate your spirit, inwardly enlighten you; and the truth you have known will now be known spiritually, and power will begin to flow up and out and you will find yourself changed, marvelously changed. It is rewarding to believe in a Christianity that really changes men and women.7

——

You can read your Bible—read any version you want—and if you are honest you will admit that it is either obedience or inward blindness. You can repeat Romans word for word and still be blind inwardly. You can quote all the psalms and still be blind inwardly. You can know the doctrine of justification by faith and take your stand with Luther and the Reformation and be blind inwardly. It is not the body of truth that enlightens; it is the Spirit of truth who enlightens.8
