SALVATION IMPOSSIBLE WITH MEN.

Mat_19:25-26.

I. Salvation is Needed. "Who, then, can be saved?" All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, as seen in His holy law, so all alike need to be saved.

II. Salvation is Impossible with Man. It is impossible with man because-

1. He Cannot Blot Out his own Sins. They are written in the memory of God.

2. He Cannot Atone for his own Guilt. The price is too great for one who is poor, and needy, and without strength.

3. He Cannot Change his own Heart. It is deceitful, and desperately wicked. He cannot alter it any more than the Ethiopian can change his skin.

4. He Cannot Purchase Salvation with his own Works. By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in His sight.

III. Salvation is Possible with God.

1. Because the Offence is against Him. "Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned" (Psa_51:4). "Father. I have sinned against Heaven and before Thee" (Luk_15:18).

2. Because He Loves the Sinner. "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us" (1Jn_4:10).

3. Because He Laid our Sins on Jesus. "It pleased the Lord to bruise Him" (Isa_53:10). "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (Joh_1:29).

4. Because He is Mighty to Save. The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. "Look unto Me and be ye saved… for I am God" (Isa_45:22).
