The Church at Antioch

The Church at Antioch holds a unique place among the Churches of early days. By letting your eye run down the outline, some striking distinctions will be quickly realized.

Antioch was a Church which began its career, under the blessings of God, and apart from the dictations of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist or Pastor.

Antioch was a Church born out of Satan’s effort to destroy the Church. It was a Church that developed strong men for God, and which sent them forth upon their errand of evangelization.

Antioch was a Church, ablaze with missionary spirit. They preached Christ at home and abroad.

It is no marvel that saints were first called Christians at Antioch.

We trust that God will open our hearts, as step by step we consider the development of this Church. May the search-light of God’s Spirit be turned upon us, as we seek to discover whether our church is worthy to be classed side by side with the Church at Antioch.
