The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit–The Objective

"I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" (Joh_16:7-8).

The objective of "The Love of God" was eternal life; the objective of the "grace of the Lord Jesus Christ" was "that ye might be rich"; the objective of the Holy Spirit is to come to saints that through them He may convict the world of their sin, that they may obtain righteousness in Christ and escape the wrath to come.

If we are to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit we must be ever ready to hear His command to go here or there, and we must be ever ready to speak whatsoever He bids us.

Peter had fellowship with the Holy Spirit, when he heard the Spirit’s call and went to Cornelius.

Philip had fellowship with the Holy Spirit, when he responded to the Spirit’s call and went in the road to Gaza, and led the eunuch to Christ.

Paul had fellowship with the Holy Spirit when he, having been forbidden of the Spirit to go into Asia, and having not been suffered by the Spirit to go into Bithynia, heard the Spirit’s call to go over in Macedonia.

The Spirit of God is ever active in calling men to come to Christ. He is here for that very purpose, and He needs us to hear His messages.

"Thou hast no tongue, O Christ, as once of old

To tell the story of Thy love Divine;

The story still, as strange, as sweet, as true;

But there’s no tongue to tell it out, but mine.

"Thou hast no feet, O Christ, as once of old

To go where Thy lost sheep in sin and sorrow pine;

Thy love is still as true, as strong, as kind,

But now Thou hast no feet to go, but mine.

"And shall I use these ransomed powers of mine,

Or lay them at the Spirit’s blessed feet?

Oh, take my tongue, my hands, my feet, my all,

And let them live and love and go for Thee."

May God grant that we may one and all really receive from Him this "grace of the Lord Jesus Christ", this "love of God", and this blessed "fellowship of the Holy Ghost".
