0222. Obed-Edom Blessed
Obed-Edom Blessed
"And the Ark remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had" (1Ch_13:14).
1. When David became filled with fear, he carried the Ark to the house of Obed-edom. That was certainly David’s loss, and Obed-edom’s gain.
2. The Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that he had. This is always true. Wherever God is the center of any family circle, the honored and loved member (not merely guest), that family will always be blessed.
Thank God, for the family altar. Thank God, for the blessings which follow its faithful administrations.
Thank God, for the home where father teaches these things to his children and talks of them to his household.
Thank God, where the mother is true and righteous, following the Lord with winsome faithfulness.
A Christian home is a a God-blessed home.
Obed-edom and his wife, perhaps, feared somewhat when the Ark was first left at their house. But soon they began to observe that somehow or other everything was being blessed that they touched. The children were blessed, their store was blessed, everything was blessed.
Be not afraid to open thine heart and thine house to the Lord Jesus. You will never know how much you owe to Him and His presence with you, until you see Him in the Glory:
"When this passing world is gone,
When has sunk yon radiant sun,
When the pearly gate I gain,
Never to go out again;
Then, Lord, shall I fully know,
Not till then, how much I owe."
"When I stand before the throne,
Dressed in beauty not my own;
When I see Thee as Thou art,
Love Thee with unsinning heart,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know–
Not till then, how much I owe."
