If the Jonah Sign Is False, Then the Saints of Old Gave a False Witness Concerning Christ

"If Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain and your faith is also vain.

"Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God" (1Co_15:14-15).

Let us note some of their testimonies:

Act_2:32 : "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses."

Act_4:33 : "And with great power gave the Apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus."

Act_17:3 : "Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen from the dead."

Not only did the disciples preach Christ as raised from the dead, fulfilling the Jonah sign, but they also preached Him as the Son of God, fulfilling that which the Jonah sign attested. Note the following:

Act_2:36 : "Therefore let all the House of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made this same Jesus, Whom ye crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Act_10:36 : "Preaching peace by Jesus Christ; He is Lord of all."

Act_17:3 : "This Jesus, Whom I preach unto you, is Christ."

Col_2:9 : "For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead, bodily."

Thus did the disciples set their inspired seal upon both our Lord’s resurrection and upon His Deity.

The greatest denial of all, is the denial of Christ’s Deity and His consequent Lordship. All blasphemous heretics climax their "damnable heresies" in "denying the very Lord that bought them."

Let us, who accept the Sign of the Prophet Jonah, continue to give forth our testimony as to our Lord’s Deity, and let us always think of Him and worship Him as the only Lord God, and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
