Belshazzar’s Judgment

It seems to us, that there is to be found nowhere, such a ringing indictment against the sinner as there is given us in this study.

The endictment divides itself into four distinct statements, each of which is noticed, in turn. The words which cover Belshazzar’s case, cover equally well the case of every unrepentant sinner.

The handwriting, which follows the endictment is a brief, but comprehensive statement of God’s sentence against Belshazzar. First we have the charge or endictment and then the sentence.

The minister of the Gospel, the believer in Christ must never condone sin. Our testimony is against sin and not for it. We have no fluttering flags of truce to tender. Whether we live or die we must be true to God and His Word.

Belshazzar passes off the scene. He is slain. Daniel not only remains, but Darius who follows Belshazzar as king, places Daniel at the head of the whole realm, making him the first of all his presidents. If we are true to God, He will honor us before men.
