0283. God's Handwriting: (B) Tekel
God’s Handwriting: (B) Tekel
"Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting" (Dan_5:27).
Weighed and wanting! This was God’s second word. Belshazzar was not used to being halted and reproved. He was king and he was supreme in Babylon. But, there is One far higher than Belshazzar. When God speaks let the whole world keep silence.
Weighed and wanting! "So then, every one of us shall give an account of himself to God." Every one must step into God’s scales and hear God’s judgment. The wicked will have no Christ and no Blood to cover his sins. He must face them. Believers have only the judgment of works; their sins are blotted out, their iniquities are gone. Unbelievers must meet the whole array of their evil deeds. "The books were opened and they were judged from the things written in the Book."
Weighed and wanting! When the unsaved are weighed they are always wanting. "There is none righteous, not one." "All have sinned and have come short of the glory of God." "There is not a just man on the earth that doeth good and sinneth not."
When the unsaved step into God’s balances and when God’s holiness is placed into one side, the sinner will always be found wanting.
The sinner may be sure that his sins will find him out.
God is a just judge and cannot clear the guilty; God is a holy God and cannot fellowship the unholy. What else then, can the sinner expect but, "Tekel," "Thou art weighed in the balances and found wanting"?
When the great day of His wrath comes, who will be able to stand?
When the judgment throne is set, and the records produced, where is the unforgiven and unblood-washed who can pass muster?
Thank God, we who are in Christ Jesus, are secured against the day of wrath. We have passed from death unto life. There is now therefore no judgment to those who are in Christ Jesus. No one can ever lay anything to the charge of God’s elect, for "it is Christ Who justifieth."
