Christ Raised From the Dead

"Whom God hath raised from the dead" (Act_3:15).

There is one dominant note in the preaching of the disciples which is found everywhere in the Book of Acts and that is the note of the resurrection of our Lord. His people denied Him; the Romans acquiesced in the demand of the Jews and gave orders for His crucifixion, but God raised Him from the dead.

O the depth of the meaning that lies in these words! Peter was speaking and Peter had known the agony of despair when Jesus, the Son of God, cried, "Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit."

When the lifeless body of the Lord was taken down from the Cross and when it was laid in the new tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, chaos had come again so far as the disciples were concerned.

When the news was brought, three days later, by the women, and Peter heard that God had raised Christ from the dead, a joy and gladness filled Peter’s soul that never left him. No wonder that the key verse says, "Whereof we are witnesses." Peter was not alone in testifying to the resurrection. John, James, Jude, Paul and the others all proclaimed it. They knew that if Jesus Christ was dead, their hope was dead, their faith was vain, their witnessing was wicked, and of all men they were the most miserable. By the resurrection of Christ they were begotten again to a living hope, and they never ceased to proclaim the glory of the resurrection morn.

Saints worship a risen Christ. The proclamation of that all-glorious event, should not be isolated to a single occasion, on an annual Easter Day. The resurrection should be a prominent note in every message on every day.

The risen Christ on the resurrection morn met the women with the words: "All joy" (see Mat_28:9). Then they held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Let us, also, worship a risen Lord.
