At the Bethesda Pool

Every parable and every miracle seems full of deepest meaning for those who care to search the depths.

We are giving a lesson to this man, healed at the Bethesda Pool, because it teaches us so many things concerning the "way of life."

The man whom Christ healed was a man thirty-eight years sick. Christ is able to save the vilest of the vile–the one who has gone the deepest, and who is the farthest on in sin.

In 2Ki_25:27, we read how, "In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, did lift up the head of Jehoiachin out of prison."

Here is a man thirty-seven years in prison, released; in our lesson there is a man thirty-eight years sick, who was healed. Oh, the wonders of saving grace!

"It is just like Him, to take our sins away,

It is just like Him, to keep us day by day,

It is just like Jesus, all along the way,

It is just like His great love."
