0355. The Children's Refuge
The Children’s Refuge
"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and His children have a place of refuge" (Pro_14:26).
The true parent provides a shelter for his boys and girls; he protects them from the wind and rain and cold. He never leaves them a prey to the hand that would blight their hopes.
And how much more does God protect His own! Will the mother forget her child, that she will not have compassion upon the child of her womb? Yes, she may forget; but God will never forget us. He keeps us as the apple of His eye.
Satan is the accuser of the brethren; He is constantly going about seeking whom he may devour. But God has given His children a place of refuge. God will not suffer us to be tempted above that we are able. He always has the way of escape made ready.
A small child, playing, heard fighting in the street and became afraid. Then his big brother came in and leaned against the door, and said "Now, little brother you can go on with your play." The child wiped his tears and said, "They can’t hurt me now, can they?"
A big dog came tearing over the lawn, a small child screamed and ran to his father’s arms. As the father caught him up, he calmly said to him, "Fear not, your father has you in his arms." The little fellow looked about–the dog was still there, but all fear was gone. The child smiled as he said: "He can’t get me now, can he daddy, ’cause you have me tight?"
Thank God that our Father protects us from every onslaught of the devil. He holds us tight.
