0511. The King's Delight
The King’s Delight
"Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows" (Psa_45:7).
One cannot conceive of Jesus Christ loving anything else than righteousness. He Himself is righteous, He can welcome into His presence, only those who have been made righteous in His Blood. His character is His standard of righteousness, and anything that falls short of that glory cannot approach Him. He hates wickedness, He has no room for that which wrecks and ruins and destroys.
When our Lord establishes His throne, righteousness and truth will kiss one another. Righteousness will be upon the bells of the horses. He will reign in righteousness. Any one who loves righteousness, but does not hate iniquity, is not like Christ. It is this blend of love and hate that caused God so much pleasure in Christ and secured to Christ that pre-eminence above His fellows.
How blessed that those who know and trust Him, are clothed in His righteousness! He has, Himself, woven out the robes which we are to wear, in His own bridal party, and in attendance at His marriage feast.
The wrong redressing, right confessing,
Righteousness and truth will kiss;
With peace attending, praise ascending,
Jesus reigns in joy and bliss.
