The Sad Lot of Those Left

"And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of Heaven, saying with a load voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound" (Rev_8:13).

Concerning those left behind and their sad lot, the Bible says: "There will be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be" (Mat_24:21). Following the rapture of the saints, the earth passes in to the "day of tribulation."

It is the day of Jacob’s trouble. It is the day of the distress of nations. It is the day of the wrath of the Lamb.

It is called in the Bible, "the Indignation."

It is called the time when God will tread out the wine press of the fierceness of His wrath.

It is the time when satan will be cast down to the earth knowing that his time is short. It is the time when antichrist and false prophet will go out to deceive the whole world.

The old earth upon which we now dwell, awaits an hour of cataclysmic and catastrophic judgments, unparalleled in history.

"The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard."

"They that dwell therein are desolate."

"All the merry hearted do sigh."

"The inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left."

The seals will be broken and the riders on the white horse, the red horse, the black horse and the pale horse will go forth to fill the earth with the rule of the antichrist, with war and famine and pestilence. There will be the shedding of martyrs’ blood and great physical earth cataclysms.

The Trumpets will be sounded and hail and fire mingled with blood, will be cast upon the earth; the third part of the trees and all green grass will be burned up: a third part of the sea will become blood: a third part of the nations will become wormwood: a third part of the sun and moon and stars will be smitten! hell’s demon locusts will torment men on the earth: and two hundred million of hell’s demon cavalry will be turned loose.

The Vials of God’s wrath will be poured forth, and plagues of darker hue than those of Egypt’s day, will be put upon men, while demons, working signs, will "go forth to the kings of the whole world to gather them together to the battle of the great day of God, the Almighty."

A sad, sad day of judgment awaits this inhabited earth.

"Earth, what a sorrow lies before thee,

None like it in the shadowy past.

The sharpest thorns that ever tore thee–

The sharpest–even though the last."
