When the King Comes Back Social Equity Will Be Established On Earth
"But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His month, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked" (Isa_11:4).
Men to-day are turning everything up-side-down to establish social equity upon the earth. Socialism is a protest against the unequal distribution of wealth. The terms of socialism demand an equalization of wealth and wages. Socialism is a revolt of the masses against classes; it is the cry for justice in behalf of the impoverished. Socialism has dreams of roseate hue; it thinks itself to be the Second Coming of Man’s Elder Brother.
Socialism must fail. Its houses are glass houses, its foundations are sand.
Christianity has joined the socialist in seeking to bring about a new day. It foretells the time when the spirit and passion of Christ will dominate the world. This social dream for righteousness is doomed to fall.
Social equity will not be established upon this earth until the King comes; but when Christ comes, "He will hear the cry of the poor;" He will "reprove with equity for the meek of the earth."
In His day, every one will "sit under his own vine and fig tree," and His people "shall long enjoy the works of their hands."
"He will deliver the needy; the poor, and him that hath no helper."
In His day, there will be no strikes, there will be no combines against the poor and no labor unions to uphold the claims of those who toil.
Can sweet good will,
The whole world fill,
And socialism’s dream fulfil,
Till Jesus comes?
No, world forlorn,
Bleeding, and torn,
God will give rest, one happy morn,
When Jesus comes.
