Master (Gr. Kathagetes), Leader

"One is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren" (Mat_23:10).

The word "Kathagetes" carries with it the thought of Leader.

It is a precious thought that Jesus Christ, as Master, stands ready to lead His people.

In the Old Testament times, the children of Israel were led by the Lord, with the glory cloud. David could say with great exultation: "The Lord is my Shepherd. * * He leadeth beside the still waters."

In the New Testament, believers have the same Christ to lead them on. We read in John 10, concerning the Good Shepherd, that, "He knoweth His sheep by name and leadeth them forth."

"He leadeth me, oh, blessed thought,

Oh! words with Heavenly comfort fraught;

Where’er I go. where’er I be,

Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

We are journeying ‘mid labyrinths with their intricate paths. A young Christian hears many voices calling him; many open doors inviting his entrance. The question is continually before him, "Which way shall I take?" How comforting is the thought that Jesus Christ reaches down His hand and says, "This is the way, walk ye in it."

Christ has a plan for every life, let us seek His plan. Christ stands ready to guide us with His eye. Let us run the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the princely leader of our faith.
