0660. Master (Gr. Didaskate), Teacher
Master (Gr. Didaskate), Teacher
"Ye call Me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am" (Joh_13:13).
The word translated Master, "Didaskalos" in this passage, is used many times in the New Testament, and it means "Teacher."
How blessed it is in these days when there are so many false doctrines, and conflicting cults, to know that there is One Teacher, Who is Master and Who never errs. Mary knew what it was to sit at Christ’s feet, and to crown Him as her Master, Teacher.
No man ever spake as Christ spoke; no other man ever taught as He taught. The words which He spake were truth.
The Lord Jesus never made a false statement; He never uttered an unscientific word. We mean that all science and all philosophy and all the doctrines of men must bend the knee before Jesus Christ; all human teachers, all historians, all philosophers must crown Christ as Teacher.
Christ said: "The words which I speak unto you are spirit and they are life." When Christ has spoken who can disannul it? When Christ has stretched forth His hand, who can draw it back?
Let us all test every statement of man by the more sure Word of Christ. If there appears a conflict between man’s words and Christ’s, then let Christ be true, and every man a liar. Let us kneel down before Jesus Christ and crown Him as our Teacher, Master.
