The Wrath and Judgments of Christ Manifest the Father

"For the Father judgeth no man, bat hath committed all judgment unto the Son; that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father" (Joh_5:22-23).

People frequently imagine that there is no mercy with God, and that there is no wrath with Christ. This is utterly false.

Jesus Christ manifests the wrath of God against all unrighteousness.

In the Book of Revelation, when the judgments of God break forth upon the earth, we clearly read (see Rev_6:16-17), that the great men and the rich men and the chief captains and the mighty men and every bond man and every free man, will hide themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains, while they say to the rocks and to the mountains: "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of His wrath has come and who shall be able to stand?"

It was Jesus Christ, Who drove out the money changers with a whip of cords.

It was Jesus Christ Who said: "But those, Mine enemies, who would not I should reign over them, bring hither,–and slay them before Me" (Luk_19:27).

It was Jesus Christ Who said: "Your house is left unto you desolate."

Let us forever disabuse our mind of the thought that Christ is not one with the Father. As we consider the judgments of Christ, let us always remember that they are the judgments of the Father. But, remember, withal, that every judgment proceeds from a heart of love.

By way of example: The most scathing anathemas in the Word of God, fell from the lips of Christ. Read the 23d chapter of Matthew. Yet the very chapter that carries Christ’s anathemas, and pronounces His woes, concludes with an appeal of sympathy, of love and of tenderness, unsurpassed in the Word of God (see Mat_23:37).

The same lips which say, "These shall go away into everlasting punishment," also say, "But the righteous, into life eternal."

In the same breath we have justice, judging; and grace, granting eternal life.

The Son and Father judged the same

All sin, dishonor, crime and shame;

All things that did God’s love defame

And cast reproach upon His name.
